Znojmo's deputy mayor, Jakub Malačka, traveled the United States in March for a U.S.-government-funded program to help train local politicians on economic practices.

On the sidewalk of J. Palacha street in the center of Znojmo, a memorial stands for the Czech student Jan Palach, who is remembered for his political protest in 1969.
The memorial features a beautiful portrait of Palach and his most famous quote, "Člověk musí bojovat proti tomu zlu, na které právě stačí" (translated to English, "People must fight against the evil they feel equal to at that moment"). Locals are welcomed to light a candle at the memorial as well as leave flowers. |
